How to join Setting the Standard

There are two stages to joining Setting the Standard. The first is to apply to the Approved Provider Scheme via the STS Portal This scheme will require providers to read through and accept the STS terms and conditions, and provide information about yourself as a provider to pass our ‘Fit and Proper Person Checks’.  


Once the STS Service has reviewed the application and approved a new provider, the provider will be sent an invitation to create an account on the STS system, so that you can register and enter the details of any B&B or studio accommodation that you  are letting to local authorities on a nightly paid basis.  


Detailed guides and videos on how to complete each stage can be found below.  The STS Co-ordinators will also be on hand with virtual provider events, training and further support.

Approved Provider Scheme: About You as a Provider (Stage 1)

  1. Contact the support team at to get the link for registration

  2. Create an account

  3. Read and agree to our terms and conditions

  4. Complete the Qualification Questionnaire

We will tell you within 5 working days of completing this process if you have been successful or if any further action is required.  

Setting the Standard Application: About Your Properties (Stage 2)

Once you have been confirmed as an Approved Provider you will be invited to set up an account on our new Setting the Standard System, via an email link.
