I am an Environmental Health Officer with over 15 years’ experience working in a London Borough as an EHO and managing the Private Sector Housing Team.  I have extensive knowledge base of housing inspections and enforcement and conducted many inspections and calculations under HHSRS.

I joined the StS Team to continue my passion for improving housing conditions and management standards and ensuring everyone has safe accommodation.  My experience has helped me to develop partnership working and I see this role developing those links further.

Our Standards

The STS standards set a benchmark for minimum standards in temporary accommodation and are used in conjunction with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) Operating Guidance and Home Authority Licensing Scheme Conditions.

The Standards are not a replacement for those which have been adopted locally, by Local Housing Authorities (LHA) including Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) Standards. Legislation under the Housing Act 2004, Housing and Planning Act 2016 and any associated legislation, including those relevant to private sector dwellings, will always take precedence.

The Standards are intended to inform Local Authority Placements and Enforcement Teams on the suitability of a property, for use as Temporary Accommodation for the placement of homeless persons.

The grading system enables LHA Homeless Persons and Environmental Health Practitioners to view the overall suitability of accommodation in all London Boroughs with confidence, reducing the inspection burden on both providers and LHA Inspection Teams without the need for a physical inspection.
